What happened to the Chrysos Heirs?

HSR 3.7 delivered the bittersweet ending we all expected from Amphoreus: Irontomb is done for and the universe has been saved from The Destruction for the moment, but at great cost — with the annihilation of the Emperor’s Scepter, the Amphoreus we know has become stardust, too.

For many players, this was not the ending they were hoping for. Is this the outcome Phainon had to suffer over 33 million cycles of despair and death for? For all of it to be gone?

No. Not only would that contradict the entire year-long saga’s message about defying destiny, it would be a major bummer to never see these characters again as part of the story.

Here’s the thing, though: Even if it may seem at first glance like everyone’s gone, the Chrysos Heirs and Amphoreus are actually alive.

Remember, we saved all of our memories from Amphoreus in the book, As I’ve Written, which already contained all of Cyrene’s stories from the world’s more than 33 million cycles. 

Thanks to the power of The Remembrance, these memories are not simply words on a page — our friends and their planet actually live on through them. Don’t believe me? There’s evidence!

After you’re done with the main story, there’s a new sidequest called As I’ve Written, which you can start in Beyond Time: An Eternal Page. Going there, you’ll discover that the Chrysos Heirs are waiting for you there, along with other inhabitants of Amphoreus such as Gnaeus and even Dromasilla (or whatever you called your little Dromas).

This quest makes it very clear that Amphoreus is in the process of being born into the universe as a real place and with real people based on the memories contained within As I’ve Written. In the quest, the Trailblazer journeys from world to world to spread the word about the book, which will boost Amphoreus’ recovery.

What’s more, Herta and Screwllum have actually recovered most of Amphoreus’ data from the Scepter, aiding the new world’s birth as well.

Herta says that Amphoreus and the Chrysos Heirs could pop into existence in a year or maybe in 10,000 years — but it will happen. Amphoreus and our friends have a real future and not any one of the countless sacrifices along this journey was in vain.

Cyrene is the only exception. She has locked herself and the original Amphoreus into a causal loop to prevent any chance of Irontomb resurfacing into the universe. As Herta says during the quest, Cyrene may still take the form of a Memosprite at some point to roam the universe, but it’s clear that her fate is special and different from that of anyone else, since she’s one of the candidates to become Fuli, Aeon of The Remembrance, at the end of time — March 7th being another one of these, as we learned.

Need even more proof? If you have a Chrysos Heir on your unit roster, log into the game and tell me what greets you. It’s going to be a message from one of them! That’s right: They are able to send us text messages now, which they couldn’t do before. Castorice, for example, adopted two baby chimeras and asked for name suggestions.

They’re alive and well, recovering from their struggles — and while the ending remains bittersweet, it’s the sweet taste that lingers. “See you tomorrow” is not a farewell anymore, but a promise.
