The Los Angeles Dodgers kicked off their offseason with a trade with the Seattle Mariners on Sunday evening.
The Dodgers sent 40-man roster addition Robinson Ortiz to the American League West squad in exchange for 22-year-old right-hander Tyler Gough.
In other news, World Series winner Ben Rortvedt sent a message to the Dodgers and their fans after the Cincinnati Reds claimed him off waivers.
“It was tough when I came in but I really appreciate the support,” he said. “It’s been really cool to come in and try to do my job but feel support from the fans and be able to be myself.”
And finally, Dustin May reacted to the Dodgers’ World Series win, having played for LA until the trade deadline. May had been with the Dodgers since his MLB career kicked off in 2019.
“Those are things that you can never take away from somebody,” May said. “I wasn’t in the playoffs with them, but I played with them for four and a half months or however long it was. So I definitely helped and contributed for them to get there.”
