The WNBA season is over and the league moves into the offseason. Teams rebuild and players rest. Training, trades and free agency will shape next year.
Angel Reese delivered another strong season for the Chicago Sky. She averaged 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Reese earned All-Star honors for the second straight year. Despite personal success, the Sky finished 10-34.
This week Reese provided a clear career update. “I’m planning on returning to the Sky in year 3,” she said. She added, “I’m under contract; so yes, I plan on returning to the Sky, continuing to talk to Tyler and building that relationship with Jeff.” The comment gives Chicago short-term certainty.

Reese’s season was not without controversy. She was suspended late in the year for comments deemed detrimental to the team. She apologized afterward. Reese also missed the final games with a back injury and was listed DNP for the remainder of the season.
Her public remarks show she expects change.
“I’m not settling for the same s— we did this year,” she said previously. She wants the Sky to add better players and to compete for championships. Reese is actively working with team leaders to shape the roster.
Reese is also at Team USA camp in Durham. She trains with top players including Caitlin Clark and Cameron Brink. That experience could help her development and marketability.
The Sky still face questions about their direction. Angel Reese remains under contract, but her future may depend on roster moves and front office action. For now she plans to return. She wants to play with the best and win. Fans will watch as trades, draft picks and free agency decide if Chicago can build a contender with Reese.
