In the main event of BoxLab’s promotion at the Caribe Royale Hotel in Orlando, Kevin Haylee Brown defended his WBA Continental Americas Super Lightweight Title against late replacement Amos Cowart.

It wasn’t that Cowart was called at the last second to appear on this show, he was already slated to fight on the undercard. However, Brown’s original opponent, Cletus Seldin weighed in yesterday, but then suffered in adverse results in his pre-fight drug testing and was immediately scratched from the show.

The fight was originally supposed to be for the interim WBA super lightweight title.

Prior to his two wins this year in 2025, Cowart hadn’t fought in 9 years! He came out like a man possessed knowing he was getting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity against Brown. It was a case of Brown’s Cuban amateur pedigree, speed and poise matched up against Cowart’s dogged determination and relentless pressure. Brown’s precision and master plan held all the way to the 10th and final round as did Cowart’s intrepid pursuit of his foe. It was certainly an entertaining fight with a classic clash of styles. In the end the judges saw it as follows: 100-90 x 3, all for Brown, now 9-0, 3 KOs. Cowart falls to 13-3-1, 10 KOs, with nothing to hang his head about.

In the co-main event, Ariel “Golden Hulk” Perez had all he could handle in Argentina’s Kevin Brizuela in their light, heavyweight battle. Brizuela employed a snappy jab and nice combinations to surprise Perez in the early going. Perez started out his career as a big puncher but had recently been concentrating on his boxing having gone the distance in his last three wins. That didn’t seem the right strategy against this particular tall boxer, hence the change in tactics. In the second half of this fight for Perez. He began throwing heavier singular shots and scoring, taking away the early Brizuela advantage. The final scores read 78-74, 79-73, 77-75, all for Perez, who remains perfect at 9-0, 4 KOs. Brizuela falls to 8-3, 6 KOs.

Nicaraguan Jordan Orozco Hernandez and Puerto Rico’s Karlo Rodriguez one had it for the WBA Continental bantamweight title. Orozco came in the vaunted power puncher and scored a knockdown via the right hand, in the second round. Rodriguez got his legs back and got himself back into the fight with his own crisp power combinations. Things quickly turned into a shootout and it was going to be a matter of who had the better chin and the bigger guns. Rodriguez had a nice moment in the fifth where he hurt Orozco but couldn’t capitalize as the round ended. The momentum seemed to continue for Rodriguez until the very end of the seventh round were a huge right-hand dropped him face first at the bell. He beat the count and staggered to his corner. Orozco knew the minute rest period wouldn’t be enough for Rodriguez to recover and he pounced immediately at the beginning around 8. Rodriguez was pinned on the ropes and not fending off any punches prompting The referee to step in at 0:19 of the eighth. Orozco retains his title and moves to 15-0, 15 KOs. Rodriguez loses his first 9-1-1, 6 KOs.

WBA Jr. Bantamweight champ Jasmine Artiga decided to go ahead with her proposed title defense against a very overweight Stephanie Silva. The Italian came in at 119.3 lb for 115 lb title. Although she was ineligible to win the belt, Silva really brought the fight to the much taller Artiga. Unfair weight advantage or not, Silva brought the fight to Artiga and pressured the champ to the limit. The judges saw it 97-93, 99-91, 100-90 all for Artiga. Many felt the two judges who gave Silva a total of one round of a possible twenty, were out of line. Artiga moves to 15-0-1, 7 KOs. Silvas dips to 10-2.

Yoenis Tellez came back from his first career loss against Texas tough Kendo Castaneda. After taking time to warm up in the first round, Tellez started to put on a clinic and work the body. A series of headshots followed by some body work dropped Castaneda late in the 3rd where he barely beat the count and survived the round. After two more rounds of being thoroughly dominated, Castaneda’s corner informed the referee that everything was over, the time. 3 minutes of the fifth round. Tellez moves to 11-1, 8 KOs. Castaneda falls to 21-13, 9 KOs.

Nicaragua Alex Vallecillo completely outclassed Venezuelan Nelvis Rodriguez over eight super bantamweight rounds. Rodriguez was hurt pretty badly in the fourth round but somehow survived not only that round but the rest of the fight only to lose his fifth straight match after starting out undefeated, he now falls to 10-5, 5 KOs. Vallecillo wins across the board, 80-72 and improves to 13-1, 11 KOs.

Opening the show, Chinese heavyweight Yize Jiang took a few rounds to feel out Siupeli Anau, eventually administering a beat down on his opponent. A knockdown came late in round 3, and then Anau was stopped on his feet at 1:47 of the 4th. Jiang moves to 6-1, 5 KOs, while Anau falls to 3-2, 2 KOs.

Lightweight Tony Aguilar came back from his loss with a vengeance against Jorge Villegas. A non-stop attack, ending with a vicious right to the body, dropped Villegas for the full count at 2:59 of the opening session.Aguilar moves to 14-2-1, 5 KOs. Villegas falls to 14-8, 13 KOs.

Junior Alcantara made his pro debut against 30-fight veteran Sharone Carter in a super featherweight six-rounder. Alcantara was too fresh and fast for the veteran Carter. The score cards all read 60-54 for Alcantara, now 1-0. Carter continues to go sub .500 at 14-16-1, 3 KOs.

Young, but big punching heavyweight Damazion VanHouter teed off on entry Jose Mario Tamez, dropping him for good with a vicious left to his ample body. Referee Luis Pabon waved off the unnecessary count at 2:23 of the first round. VanHouter is now 20-0, 7 KOs, at 20 years old. Tamez drops to 4-5, 1 KO.
