Indiana Fever point guard Sydney Colson is a two-time WNBA champion who also won a national title at Texas A&M in 2011. Additionally, Colson may be her sport’s first star to openly mock her stalker.
On a recent episode of “Unsupervised with Sid and TP,” Colson’s podcast with former teammate Theresa Plaisance, Colson recalled turning the tables on her ever-present foe.
“I started stalking him,” Colson, 36, said. “So, I would post my pictures and I’m like, ‘I’m gonna send it to his ass.’ I’m like ‘Did you not see this? Was this not cute to you? You don’t like it when I dress more masculine?’”
Apparently, the veteran began to miss the lurker who had reduced his role in her life. So, she antagonized him.
“[My feelings] were hurt a little bit because I’m like, ‘Look, you disappeared on me, but just communicate,’” Colson said. “‘Was it family stuff? Was it health stuff? I’m a compassionate person. I would have listened but you’ve just got to tell me.’”
Colson was drafted in 2011 by the New York Liberty and played for multiple teams, including the Las Vegas Aces, where she won back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023. She also played for the San Antonio Stars, Minnesota Lynx and Chicago Sky before joining the Fever this year.
Colson is tough and prioritizes defense and team success over personal accolades. She is also a self-proclaimed jokester who is known for her infectious, fun-loving personality.
“He’s stalking other WNBA players?” Colson asked enviously. “I don’t want to get jealous.”
Despite her playful tone, being stalked is no laughing matter. Victims of stalking often lose time from work or never return to work, and some even relocate to regain a sense of safety. Many suffer from anxiety, insomnia, and severe depression as a result of being stalked.
It does not appear any charges were filed and the WNBA has not acknowledged the matter.
