Fifteen years after “Jimmermania” rocked the country, Jimmer Fredette is still getting shoutouts in the media — and this time from two of the biggest names in sports.

The former BYU star came up in Caitlin Clark’s recent appearance on the “New Heights” podcast hosted by Jason and Travis Kelce.

The Kelces asked Clark about her return to basketball at the USA Basketball Senior National Team‘s training camp in December. Clark’s sophomore WNBA season ended early with a groin injury and bone bruise.

Clark said she hopes to be on the 2026 FIBA World Cup and 2028 Los Angeles Olympics teams. She said the Kelces could join her at the 2028 Summer Games when flag football makes its Olympic debut.

The brothers both volunteered to snap the ball for Team USA.

Jason Kelce said “there’s going to be a bunch (of NFL players) that are going to want to” play on the flag football team because “we don’t ever get that opportunity, but it is a different sport.”

Travis Kelce likened it to the United States’ 3×3 men’s basketball team for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“I think it will be similar to the 3×3. You know, like how, who was it? I think Jimmer was probably the biggest name in the 3×3 last year,” he said during the Dec. 31 episode.

Clark mentioned Fredette’s retirement and that the 2024 Paris Olympics were his first and last Olympic Games.

“Yeah, shout out to Jimmer, man, electric — electric BYU,” Kelce said.

Clark described Fredette’s game as “perfect” for 3×3 basketball.

“His game is perfect for that, fast, can shoot it just quick” she said.

What Caitlin Clark has said about Jimmer Fredette

The “New Heights” episode wasn’t the first time Clark has talked about Fredette.

In a 2024 episode of ESPN’s “Sue’s Places,” which is hosted by Sue Bird, Clark told Bird that she grew up a fan of Fredette, Stephen Curry and Maya Moore, as the Deseret News previously reported.

“I vividly remember Jimmer Fredette’s tournament run,” Clark said during the episode. “Me and my cousins just would watch all of his games, watch his highlights on YouTube, so I’ve always been a big Jimmer fan.”

To surprise Clark, Bird invited Fredette onto the show where he and Clark faced off in a 3-point contest.

Then in 2025, as a guest on Bird’s podcast, “Bird’s Eye View with Sue Bird,” Clark revealed that she used to own a “Teach Me How to Jimmer” shirt as a kid.

“There was the famous song, ‘Teach Me How to Jimmer,’ and I had the shirt that said, ‘Teach Me How to Jimmer,’” she said. “If you haven’t seen it, look it up on YouTube. It’s a ‘Teach Me How to Dougie’ remix, but teach me how to Jimmer. It’s hilarious.”

After Bird suggested Clark get Fredette to sign the shirt, Clark admitted she probably doesn’t have it anymore.

The appreciation between Clark and Fredette isn’t one-sided. During the “Sue’s Places” episode, Fredette shared his own praise of Clark.

“She’s an amazing player, shoots from everywhere,” he said. “She moves a little bit forward when she shoots those long-range shots. She uses her momentum, and I do the same thing. It’s fun to see someone who is playing at her highest level at this point, and this point of her career is incredible. So I’m excited to be able to challenge her.”
