Jorge Chavez Defeats “Gucci” Flores

Super bantamweights Tijuana’s Jorge Chavez (15-0-1, 8 KO’s) and Manuel “Gucci” Flores (20-2-1, 16 KO’s) of Coachella, California settled unfinished business in the co-feature bout as they started off where they left off in their rematch in another competitive fight as Chavez pulled off the unanimous decision win.

Flores and Chavez mixed it up and exchanged through the course of the fight reminiscent of their first fight the second time around. It was competitive majority of the fight but in the later rounds Chavez was on the offensive as Flores appeared to be fatigued as the Tijuana fighter took advantage backing the hometown fighter to the corner with a series of punches. Late in the fight in the ninth, it was Chavez dictating the pace as Flores was limited with his offense. The tenth and final round both Chavez and Flores closed the show like the previous fight fighting away to the final bell.

Upon completing 20 rounds in their rivalry the judges scored the bout 98-92, 97-93, and 96-94 as Chavez pulls off the victory.

Iriarte vs. De Los Santos Off Due to Divine Intervention

Bakersfield’s welterweight prospect Joel Iriarte (9-0, 8 KO’s) fight with Jireh De Los Santos (14-2-2, 5 KO’s) of Weslaco, Texas to take place at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California was scratched last minute as De Los Santos withdrew from the fight upon the advice from the almighty himself…God.

De Los Santos said “God told him it wasn’t safe”

Iriarte vs. De Los Santos was scheduled to take place on the Raul Curiel vs Jordan Panthen undercard. This was the second fight scratched for the Golden Boy Promotions card as Alexis Rocha withdrew from the main event vs. Raul Curiel. Tonights card also marks the final card for Golden Boy on DAZN as their long time deal ends after tonight.

Abdulaev Stops Abreu in the fifth

Uzbekistan super lightweight Ruslan Abdulaev (4-0, 2 KO) stopped Eduardo Abreu (14-2-2, 10 KO’s) of Uruguay in five. The Uzbek Abdulaev came out strong attacking Abreu early on. Abdulaev sent Abreu to the canvas towards the end of the third round. Staying composed, Abdulaev was on the offensive mixing it up with Abreu working away. However, in the fifth, Abdulaev dropped Abreu once again for the second time as the Uruguayan got up and continued, Abreu seized the moment attacking and forcing the referee to stop the fight at 2:59 of the fifth.

Cayden Griffiths Goes the Distance

Opening the DAZN segment of the Golden Boy card, unbeaten super welterweight Cayden Griffiths (7-0, 6 KO’s) of Coachella won a unanimous decision over Lesther Espino (10-8, 8 KO’s) of Nicaragua. Griffiths on point from the opening bell ripping away on Espino in the early rounds and scoring a knockdown. Attacking with precision, Griffiths displayed superior skill unloading combinations in dominating a very tough Espino in going the distance in route to the victory.

All three judges scored the bout 60-53.

Scrappy Ramirez Gets the Victory

John “Scrappy” Ramirez (16-1, 9 KO’s) returned to the ring winning a majority decision over Byron Rojas (29-6-3, 12 KO’s) of Nicaragua in super flyweight bout.

Scrappy took the initiative from the opening bell as he displayed superior skill and hand speed over the tough Rojas. Boxing away Ramirez outworked and beat the Nicaraguan to the punch. Pacing himself Ramirez continued to box but the Rojas pressed and began to close in during the seventh round. Late in the fight in the eighth, Scrappy worked behind the jab circling Rojas as the Nicaraguan continued to stalk. Later in the round, referee Ray Corona warned Ramirez for a low blow. Keeping his distance fighting conservatively in the ninth, Ramirez cruised but the tough Rojas kept on pressing to the final bell.

The judges scored the bout 98-92, 97-93, and 95-95.

Fabian Guzman Stops Jose Rodriguez in Six

Middleweight prospect Fabian Guzman (9-0, 8 KO’s) scored a sixth-round stoppage over Jose Rodriguez (3-2, 2 KO’s). A solid straight right hand by Guzman connected buckling up Rodriguez in the second. Attacking patiently Guzman began to go downstairs to the body in the fourth connecting effectively Rodriguez but Rodriguez was saved by the bell. Rodriguez appeared to be gassed out by the sixth as the body shots began to take a toll, Guzman attacked patiently, backing Rodriguez to the ropes as he did not respond to Guzman’s attack prompting the referee to step in and stop the fight at 2:36.

Ricardo Rubacalva Stays Undefeated

Opening things up from the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California. Welterweight Ricardo Rubacalva (15-0-1, 10 KO’s) of Ventura, California tested the waters in going the distance eight rounds with Argentinian veteran Jonathan Eniz (37-25-1, 17 KO’s).

Boxing patiently early on, the young prospect Rubacalva worked off the jab keeping the southpaw Eniz at a distance. Showing composure through much of the bout Rubacalva continued to box away outworking a rugged Eniz. Putting in the work and getting in the rounds, Rubacalva kept pushing on late in the fight in the sixth, mixing it up and tagging Eniz on the inside with a series of uppercuts. It was all Rubacalva as he worked his way to the decision victory.

The judges scored the bout 80-72, 80-72, and 79-73.
