Dana White Dismisses McGregor-Masvidal UFC White House Rumors as ‘Goofy S–t’

UFC CEO Dana White says there is no truth to rumors of a clash
between Conor
McGregor and Jorge
Masvidal being targeted for the White House.

Discussion around a fight between the two stars began to pick up
steam on social media recently, and Masvidal only added fuel to the
fire when he told MMAjunkie.com that he was “training for
something big.”

During a recent interview with TMZ Sports, White quickly dismissed
the possibility when informed that McGregor vs. Masvidal had become
a hot topic on social media.

“You know what’s funny? In my algorithm on Instagram, I have
nothing MMA,” White said. “Literally nothing MMA pops up.

“I don’t listen to any of the goofy s–t. It’s goofy s–t. The MMA
world, I don’t listen to any of that s–t. So literally none of
that is on my algorithm. Almost everything you see on the internet
about our sport is wrong. It’s all wrong.”

As far as putting together the card for the White House, the UFC
boss says that matchmaking is likely to begin in earnest shortly
after the conclusion of UFC
324.

“I think we’ll have it dialed in by the second week of February,”
White said. “We’ll have everything done.”

Plans for Harrison vs. Nunes

Last week, UFC 324 took a significant hit when Kayla
Harrison withdrew from her bantamweight title defense against
Amanda
Nunes to undergo surgery on her neck. According to White, there
was no consideration as to having Nunes remain on the card against
a replacement opponent.

“This fight is the greatest female fight ever,” White said. “You
can’t just throw somebody else on it. You wait until she’s ready
and you do the fight.”

White added that it wasn’t a difficult sell to Nunes, who has been
retired since June 2023, to wait for Harrison to return to full
health.

“Amanda’s so awesome to work with,” White said. “I’ve had a great
relationship with her since Day One. She’s very easy to work
with.”

As for rescheduling the blockbuster women’s fight, White is
optimistic that it will happen in the not-too-distant future.

“The surgery went well,” he said. “She [Harrison] should make a
full recovery and we should be able to do the fight this year.”
