The Seattle Seahawks have a pair of injured reserve players back on the active roster in time for the NFC Championship Game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Running back George Holani and tight end Elijah Arroyo will be available for Sunday’s highly anticipated trilogy showdown. Holani will essentially replaced the injured Zach Charbonnet, who’s out for the year with an ACL tear suffered in the Divisional Round against the San Francisco 49ers. The second-year undrafted free agent has been on injured reserve since injuring his hamstring in the Week 12 win over the Tennessee Titans in late November.
Arroyo has been on IR since Week 15 with a knee injury sustained in Week 14 versus the Atlanta Falcons. The second-round rookie from Miami caught 15 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown, but just two catches for 10 yards over his last five games. Arroyo nevertheless is a receiving tight end who could be used as another target for Sam Darnold, particularly given Seattle’s affinity for 12 personnel (one running back, two tight ends).
To make room for Arroyo, the Seahawks placed rookie guard Bryce Cabeldue on injured reserve with a knee injury. Cabeldue has been limited in practice with this injury and has scarcely played even in garbage time this season, so his rookie season comes to an end with 56 snaps played between offense and special teams.
Seattle can only activate one more player off of injured reserve the rest of this season. Linebacker/special teams ace Chazz Surratt was designated for return to practice last week, but he must be activated within the next two weeks (if Seattle makes the Super Bowl) or revert to IR.
