Basketball fans waiting to see Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark return to the court may get that chance sooner than they anticipated.
Clark was limited to just 13 games last year, and she missed the final 22 games of the season while battling a right groin strain. It was the latest in a string of injuries she suffered last year that included two separate quad strains and a preseason injury.
Though many were expecting to see Clark play again in the Fever’s Season opener against the Dallas Wings on May 9, it was revealed on Wednesday that Clark would be making her on-court return in advance of the 2026 WNBA season.

“She’s back ❤️🔥Caitlin Clark will compete with @usabasketball in the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in San Juan 🇺🇸,” the Fever announced on X.
“Ready to turn up the heat with @usabasketball 🔥 congrats to Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark and Stephanie White on representing at the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in San Juan from March 11-17 🤩,” they added in a follow-up tweet.
Team USA opens the 2026 tournament against Senegal on March 11. Its next four matches include contests against Puerto Rico (March 12), Italy (March 14), New Zealand (March 15), and Spain (March 17).

Winners of the 2025 Women’s AmeriCup, Team USA has already booked it’s spot in the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin, Germany, from Sept. 4 through Sept. 13.
The FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament marks the second straight year both Clark and Boston will represent Team USA. The duo have won gold previously with Team USA during the FIBA U19 World Cup
