Paulo Costa‘s coach has suggested that their team wants to try and become a two-weight world champion in the UFC – and fans have quite a few thoughts about it.
As we know, Paulo Costa is one of the most unique talents in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. While he clearly has the skills necessary to damage his opponent in any fight he’s in, the 34-year-old often falls short of the mark, with his most memorable performances coming on his social media accounts as opposed to in the cage.
In his next fight, Paulo Costa will be going up against the undefeated Azamat Murzakanov as he shifts his way up to the light heavyweight division. Given his size, this is the kind of decision that many have expected from him for quite some time. Of course, he’s going to face a lot of adversity at 205 pounds, but it may well be the best route forward for him at this stage in his career.
After his coach made some big claims about Paulo Costa’s future in a recent interview, there was something of a backlash online.
Paulo Costa’s coach hypes up big future plans
“We’re moving up to become champion in both divisions. To make history. That’s what he wants to do.”
As you can imagine, some fans in the comments had more than a few things to say about this prediction.
“Paulo becoming a champion in not one but TWO weight classes? Who is this guys plug? [laughing emoji]”
“But you haven’t became champion in Mid…never mind”
“I’m focused on growing wings and learning how to fly.”
“Maybe try to actually improve? Haven’t seen any improvement from him since his debut”
“I can promise you he’s not”
Get ready, fight fans, because if this is true, Costa is about to go on one hell of a run.
