Seven Lakes Enters Playoffs 33–0

As the postseason tips off in Texas high school basketball, few teams enter the bracket with more momentum or more pressure than Seven Lakes (Katy, Texas).

Sitting at a perfect 33–0 and currently No. 12 in the FAB 50 National Team Rankings, the Spartans look to accomplish something few teams have done in Texas. Complete an undefeated season in 6A basketball. Head Coach Shannon Heston has these guys playing high level basketball as they are physical, play fast, have enough self creators and have more depth than their opponent.

They share the ball, defend as a unit, and rarely beat themselves. The Spartans’ undefeated run has been powered by a core group that brings balance across the floor — led by guards Nasir Price (UTSA pledge) and 2026 Jose Martins, plus a wing presence provided by 2027 Isaiah Santos, each playing a distinct role in the team’s success.

Seven Lakes’ Cast Members

Price is completely healed from his injury that sidelined him for over a year and he has been the best 2026 player in Houston this scholastic season. Price creates his own offense, gets paint touches and uses his athleticism to finish vs. length. He’s comfortable attacking gaps, knocking down perimeter shots when defenders sag, and delivering composed possessions late in games. Defensively, his pressure at the point of attack helps set the tone for the Spartans’ identity.

On the wing, Santos provides the physical presence that balances the Spartans’ perimeter strength. He impacts the game with rebounding, rim finishing, and defensive toughness. It’s like a bull in a china shop. When he gets downhill, it’s hard to contain him and stop him from getting to the rim and finishing. I haven’t seen many players in the country that play as hard or as physical as Isaiah does. He’s 6’5 and plays like he’s 6’9.

Price’s backcourt mate, Martins gives Seven Lakes versatility and connective play that ties everything together. He’s the type of player who can influence the game without needing heavy usage, contributing as a scorer, and ball-mover depending on what the moment requires. Martins spaces the floor effectively, attacks closeouts with control, and plays with a strong understanding of team offense. He’s crafty with the handle, makes plays for others and raises the floor of the team he’s on. A D1 prospect in my opinion that will have a good college career.

Together, Price, Santos, and Martins reflect what makes Seven Lakes difficult to beat: balance. The Spartans don’t rely on one style or one player. They can control tempo from the backcourt, defend with physicality inside, and rely on versatile wings to connect possessions on both ends.

Congratulations to Sean, Nasir, and Isaiah on reaching 100 career varsity wins in their careers. Naz has 101 while Sean and Saih reached 100 on Saturday. They become only the 5th, 6th, and 7th Spartans to reach this incredible milestone! Congrats guys! pic.twitter.com/vl0HDH20o7

Seven Lakes’ Playoff Prospectus

Of course, the playoffs present a different test.

The margin for error shrinks, opponents bring heightened urgency, and every game becomes about adjustments. Teams facing Seven Lakes will enter with nothing to lose and everything to prove, eager to be the one that ends the perfect season. Managing that pressure will be as important as any tactical advantage.

The road to a University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 6A Division I title will be a dog fight, but Seven Lakes has the star power and depth to make it happen. It opens the playoffs on Tuesday vs. Alief Taylor (Houston). The bracket also includes No. 26 North Crowley (Ft. Worth, Texas) plus perennial contenders Atascocita (Humble) and Brennan (San Antonio).

The last time a UIL 6A state champion finished undefeated was in 2023-24 when Plano East finished 40-0 and ranked No 4 in the FAB 50. Remember, the 2021-22 Duncanville club won the FAB 50 title on the court, but finished 35-1 after splitting games with Richardson, winning the second contest after winning the first one at the Whataburger Tournament.

Seven Lakes definitely could finish in the range of Plano East with an unbeaten season, but might need some help to climb higher than that. Regardless, an unbeaten season would be more than memorable, like once-in-a-lifetime, for Seven Lakes’ program and its faithful.
