Fever star Sophie Cunningham explained one of her rules for dating, with the WNBA star making a key admission
Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham has candidly confessed that she can’t date anyone shorter than her.
Whilst recent WNBA news has been largely focused on the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) discussions between the league and the WNBPA, as well as Caitlin Clark’s revelation about her 2026 season after a challenging injury-ridden 2025, Cunningham made a personal admission on her podcast, ‘Show Me Something.’ She revealed that she finds it difficult to date men who are shorter than she is.
Standing at 6-foot-1, Cunningham and her co-host, West Wilson, were responding to fan voicemails, one of which was from a man named Josh from Los Angeles. This comes after Cunningham expressed her views on a WNBA clause affecting Caitlin Clark.

Josh started by explaining his situation: he is approximately 6 feet tall but is attracted to women taller than him.
His voicemail started with: “Mostly for Sophie, but I want West’s input on this one. I’m about 6-foot, but I find girls Sophie’s height and taller very attractive.”
“I also understand girls don’t want to date guys shorter than them, so should I just accept that my queen is going to be shorter than me, or is there something I can do to get taller girls’ attention? I would be fascinated to hear your guys’ take on this.”
Wilson immediately praised Josh for his preference for taller women, before Cunningham gave her response.
“I don’t think I’m the right tall person to ask because I could never date someone shorter than me,” Cunningham said frankly. “Because I already feel big. So I want someone who is going to make me feel smaller.

“I get that,” Wilson chimed in, before Cunningham threw Josh a lifeline.
She went on: “But there are so many guys who have taller girls! I think people have really good energy, and I love so many people. I just can’t [date shorter], I would just feel like the man in my relationship.
“I think that you need to try going to sand volleyball, beach volleyball,” Cunningham also suggested to Josh about meeting a taller woman. “Do beach volleyball, because there’s a lot of tall girls there, and volleyball in general, like I don’t know, that could be a vibe?”.
“Go find you a setter, Josh,” Wilson added.
Cunningham’s 2025 campaign came to an early close last term following an MCL tear in her right knee during an August matchup against the Connecticut Sun, which has kept her focused on rehabilitation throughout much of the offseason.
The Fever standout is now projected to return for the 2026 season, which is tentatively scheduled to begin on Friday, May 8, though ongoing uncertainty remains due to the absence of a CBA agreement.
This follows Cunningham’s harsh assessment of Caitlin Clark’s character.
