JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida women’s soccer head coach Eric Faulconer announces the addition of assistant coach Chris Davidovicz to the staff on Monday afternoon. Davidovicz fills the role vacated by the departure of Serge Lipovetsky, who is now the Director of Coaching for Venice Soccer Club in Southwest Florida.
“I am really excited to add Chris to our staff,” stated Faulconer. “Chris has a work ethic second to none and will bring a lot of passion to our program. I feel very fortunate to be able to add someone that has been a successful head and assistant coach for over eleven seasons at the collegiate level. In addition, Chris has coached at the semiprofessional and youth levels. He has a brilliant tactical mind for the game and an all-in mentality. His drive to bring out the best in people will definitely be of huge value to our program”.
Davidovicz’s most recent collegiate stop was during the 2022 season at NCAA Division I Oakland University, where he reconnected with Juan Pablo Favero. Favero and Davidovicz worked together previously at Georgia College and Newberry College. Davidovicz helped Oakland achieve an 8-4-7 overall record, going 5-2-3 in the Horizon League. Notably Oakland tied both Northwestern and Michigan State during the 2022 campaign.
Davidovicz served as the head coach at now ASUN member the University of West Georgia from 2013-2016. During this time, the West Georgia program achieved success that it had not seen in over a decade. The Wolves recorded their best back-to-back seasons in 2015 and 2016 since 2004-2005 under his guidance. Previous to West Georgia, Davidovicz led Thomas University to back-to-back ten-win seasons for the first time in seven years, when Thomas was then led by current UNF coach Eric Faulconer.
Previous to being named the head coach at Thomas, Davidovicz served Thomas as the men’s and women’s assistant. He came to Thomas from Georgia College, where he helped guide the Bobcats to their first ever NCAA national tournament berth and national ranking. He also helped lead Newberry to their program’s first ever winning season.
Outside the collegiate game, Davidovicz was named the WPSL’s Conference Coach of the Year with the Savannah Spirit during the 2020 season. He also coached the Atlanta Silverbacks during the summer of 2013. He has extensive youth experience as well, mostly recently with Tormenta FC in the Savannah/Hilton Head Island area. From 2008-2014, Davidovicz served the Georgia ODP program as a head coach.
Davidovicz has his Premier, Advanced National and National diplomas from the United Soccer Coaches association and is a certified USSF referee. A goalkeeper at Virginia Tech from 1999-2003, Davidovicz earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business finance and later earned his Master of Education in kinesiology and human performance at Georgia College.
