Get ready for an exciting night at the Footprint Center in Phoenix as the WNBA Skills Challenge and STARRY 3-Point Contest light up the stage on Friday, the eve of the 2024 All-Star Game.
Fans can expect to see Brittney Griner display her skills in both speed and mobility, followed by a showdown between some of the best three-point shooters of 2024.
The evening will also feature the inaugural WNBA All-Star 3×3 Exhibition, pitting the 3×3 National Team against the 3×3 U23 National Team from USA Basketball.
Aflac is adding to the excitement by offering a $55,000 bonus to each winner of the Skills Competition and 3-Point Contest.
Skills Challenge highlights league’s best
The Skills Challenge will test the dribbling, passing, speed, and shooting abilities of five talented players in a timed obstacle course. Expect a close competition with the two fastest players advancing to a final face-off.
The roster includes ten-time WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner, Sophie Cunningham, Allisha Gray, Erica Wheeler, and Marina Mabrey.
Mabrey, who recently joined the Connecticut Sun, will compete in both the Skills Challenge and 3-Point Contest.
Top shooters put their skills on display
The STARRY 3-Point Contest will feature some of the best shooters in the WNBA, with points awarded from different shooting locations around the arc as well as long-range shots for bonus points.
Players like Jonquel Jones, Stefanie Dolson, Kayla McBride, Allisha Gray, and Marina Mabrey will compete for the title.
WNBA All-Star Weekend adds 3×3 Exhibition to the mix
The 3×3 Exhibition will feature Team USA Olympians facing off against the U-23 squad in an exciting matchup. Both teams are gearing up for major events, including the FIBA 3×3 Nations League tournament.
