McLaren’s Oscar Piastri celebrated his first Grand Prix victory in Hungary in a unique way that defied typical F1 winner celebrations.
Instead of champagne showers or a fancy party, Piastri opted for a low-key post-race bash with fast food and close friends.
On the way back to the UK, Piastri, teammate Lando Norris, and Williams driver Alex Albon faced significant flight delays, forcing them to forego the planned after-party for an impromptu McDonald’s run.
“It wasn’t the most glamorous after-party,” Piastri admitted, “We had a flight delay from Budapest, flew into a different airport, and in our wait, we grabbed some McDonald’s and got home at 5am for the celebrations.”
“Just a few F1 drivers enjoying burgers and nuggets, really,” he added.
“We had significant delays and no food options, so McDonald’s was the most convenient choice.”

Piastri’s landmark win came without some key supporters present, with Mark Webber in London and his girlfriend and parents unable to celebrate in person.
“It’s nice to have close people there, but you can’t predict where you’ll get good results, so it’s just luck of the draw,” Piastri remarked.
Despite the absence, Piastri had his team and friends to celebrate with, making the victory special.
