Here are the highlights from the Jets’ training camp practice on Thursday.

Return of Tarik Cohen

RB Tarik Cohen, who is coming back from a torn ACL in 2020 and a ruptured Achilles in 2022, displayed his quickness on the field.

Working with the second-team offense, he showcased his agility by dodging defenders and gaining substantial yardage. 

Penalty Woes

LT Tyron Smith and LG John Simpson, new to Rodgers’ play calling, were responsible for three false starts.

Coach Robert Saleh has instituted a new rule for offensive line penalties where the player is substituted out for a play to emphasize accountability. 

Center Joe Tippman mentioned that players appreciate the enforcement of accountability. 

Noteworthy Plays

When Tyrod Taylor takes over for Rodgers with the second-team offense, the Jets focus on long passes downfield.

Taylor completed a deep pass to Malik Taylor but later overthrew him.

Rookie Qwan’tez Stiggers intercepted the pass and skillfully navigated the sideline. 

Rodgers in Action

The first 11-on-11 play featured a long connection from Aaron Rodgers to Garrett Wilson along the left sideline.

Rodgers delivered what the crowd wanted at the open practice, resulting in loud cheers from the fans. 

Injury Updates

RG Aljiah Vera-Tucker and RT Morgan Moses were sidelined from team drills, but Saleh anticipates their return next week.

WR Xavier Gipson limped off, but Saleh expressed no major concerns.
