Brad Pauls is fully focused on beating Nathan Heaney and becoming the British middleweight champion on Saturday night during Fight week. The prestigious Lonsdale belt is motivation enough, but if Pauls needs more inspiration, he can look at Tyler Denny’s career trajectory after their last fight.
After successfully defending his English middleweight title against Pauls, Denny went on to become the European champion and defeat Felix Cash to establish himself as a major name in British middleweight boxing. Pauls rebounded from his defeat and picked up the English belt, coming close to taking the British title from Heaney in their previous fight.
While Pauls admires Denny’s journey from small-hall fights to European champion status, he sees a potential rematch in the future if he can become the British champion. “The Newquay Bomb” is open to the challenge and looks forward to testing himself against his old rival once again.
“You’ve gotta give him credit,” Pauls told BoxingScene. “He’s done it the hard way, coming from the small halls and working his way up. He’s a good fighter, Tyler. He’s a really, really good fighter. Obviously, it’s a rematch I’d love in the future.”
With numerous middleweight options available for Pauls, he remains open to potential future matchups and is eager to see how much he has improved since his last encounter with Denny. The boxing ring holds endless possibilities for Pauls as he continues his journey in the world of middleweight boxing.
