A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces is making a strong case for her third MVP award this season, and her teammate Kelsey Plum is right by her side showing unwavering support.
Plum, who has been playing alongside Wilson in Vegas for the past six years, passionately argued that Wilson not only deserves the MVP title but should win it without any hesitation.
During a recent press conference, Plum expressed, “We’re witnessing greatness every night with A’ja. It’s astonishing to see one of the best players of all time in action. I really hope that this year, her MVP win is unanimous, you know what I mean?”
One reporter concurred with Plum’s sentiment, affirming that Wilson is undoubtedly an MVP.
To this, Plum replied, “I understand, but there’s a distinction between MVP and being a unanimous MVP, just saying.”
Wilson, who previously won MVP in 2020 and 2022, has consistently been in the top ranks of MVP voting ever since being the top draft pick in 2018. Despite the Aces clinching back-to-back WNBA championships last season, Wilson placed third in MVP voting, following Breanna Stewart and Alyssa Thomas.
The MVP award is traditionally decided by a national panel of sportswriters and broadcasters with WNBA voting privileges.
This season, Wilson has been dominating with averages of 27.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 17 games for the Aces (11-6).
