WTA star Carson Branstine recently expressed excitement over the amazing experience she gained at Wimbledon. The 24-year-old paved her way through three qualifying rounds to finally set up a first-round clash against the three-time Grand Slam champion Aryna Sabalenka.

Despite the defeat, the Canadian walked out of the Grand Slam tournament with positive vibes and expressed her thoughts via her social media handle.

Carson Branstine Sums Up Her Wimbledon Experience on an Optimistic Note

Aryna Sabalenka made it through to the second round at Wimbledon after defeating Carson Branstine. The top-seeded Sabalenka won in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, on Monday.

She quickly took control of the first set with two early breaks of serve. Branstine played better in the second set, but it was not enough to stop Sabalenka. Although the Belarusian faced a break point in her first service game, she managed to hold on before moving ahead 6-5 and finishing off the match when she had the chance.

Nonetheless, Branstine was happy to have earned this opportunity and to have made it to her maiden Grand Slam main draw. Summing up her experience, the Canadian pro dropped a statement on X. “Wimbledon is so fun!! I had so much fun!! Tennis is fun!!” she wrote.

Branstine played collegiate tennis during her time at Texas A&M University and managed to fund her tennis career through her profession in modeling.

Meanwhile, after her victory over the World No. 197, Sabalenka will now face the World No. 48, Marie Bouzkova, in the second round at Wimbledon.

Aryna Sabalenka Gives Her Take on Playing Five-Set Matches

After the victory over Branstine, Sabalenka took a moment to explain why women are not ready to play five-setters. Amid the ongoing debate about whether women should also be playing five-set matches at Majors, the World No. 1 gave her take on and said:

“Possibly, playing best of five sets would benefit me because I am one of the physically strongest, but even so, I do not think I am ready for it. It is too demanding for the female body; women are not prepared to play that amount of tennis, and injuries would increase significantly,” she said.

Sabalenka has been training with ATP stars in the past. This included friendly sessions with Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.

Having strictly denied the idea of five-setters, Sabalenka will now look forward to chasing her fourth title at Wimbledon, after being absent from the grass court Major last year because of an injury.
