The Chicago Sky have appointed Tyler Marsh, former assistant coach of the Las Vegas Aces, as their head coach for the 2025 WNBA season.
It seems like a great choice for Chicago, as highlighted by Annie Costabile of the Chicago Sun-Times, who mentioned Marsh’s player-development skills, particularly with A’ja Wilson, a three-time MVP.
However, some players from the Aces are not happy about losing Marsh. Las Vegas guard Sydney Colson expressed frustration on social media, indicating their disappointment with the situation.
Even WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson shared her discontent on social media, suggesting that the situation with assistant coaches changing is unsettling, along with a gif to express her feelings.
Wilson hinted at the recent appointment of another former Aces assistant, Natalie Nakase, as the head coach of the Golden State Valkyries, adding to the changes in coaching staff.
With the trend of former Aces assistant coaches landing head coaching positions, it may not be surprising. The Chicago Sky and their players will need to adjust to the new coaching staff for the upcoming season.
