The Indiana Fever highlighted Aliyah Boston’s best defensive plays on Saturday. In one of the highlights shared by the Fever on Instagram, Boston blocked Chicago Sky center Elizabeth Williams twice before rejecting Angel Reese. The three consecutive swats were part of Boston’s five-block outing against the Sky in the Fever’s season-opening 93-58 win.

Boston shared the same video via an Instagram story and wrote:

“Swag.”

The Sky-Fever matchup to open the 2025 season was easily one of the most highly anticipated showdowns of the year. Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese grabbed the headlines due to their intense rivalry, but Boston stole some of the limelight.

Clark finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, four blocks and two steals. Boston contributed 19 points, 13 rebounds and five rejections. Reese led the Sky with 12 points and 17 rebounds.

The sequence shared by the Fever on IG came under the five-minute park. Chicago trailed 79-51 when the All-Star center ended the Sky’s last-ditch attempt to turn the game around.

Angel Reese drove into the lane before passing to Elizabeth Williams when Aliyah Boston stepped into the paint. Williams went up strong, but Boston smothered her. After grabbing the rebound, Williams tried a turnaround jumper that the Indiana center swatted away.

Reese outsmuscled DeWanna Bonner for the rebound before going up for a follow-up shot. Bonner and Boston converged to stifle the Chi Barbie. The referee called a jump ball after the Bonner-Boston combo swallowed Reese’s attempt.

Boston completed the incredible sequence by outjumping Angel Reese to tap the ball to teammate Kelsey Mitchell. The lefty guard hit a floater in the next possession, forcing the Sky to wave the white flag.

Aliyah Boston earned her first All-WNBA Defensive Team selection

Aliyah Boston capped off her incredible season by earning a few major awards. She finished sixth in the MVP voting, earned an All-WNBA Second Team nod and an All-WNBA Defense Second Team honor.

Boston’s defense was crucial in the Fever’s run to the playoffs. With multiple key players such as Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham suffering season-ending injuries, her defense became even more important.

The Fever showed their appreciation for Boston by highlighting her defensive plays in 2025.
