Mt. Juliet High Class of 2005 graduate Alysha Clark has reached another milestone in her 12-year career in the WNBA.
Last Saturday Clark had three points, four rebounds, and two assists to help the Las Vegas Aces to an 88-77 win over the Washington Mystics for their fourth straight win.
The two-time defending WNBA champs improved to 10-4 as Clark reached the 2,500 point level for her career.
“I didn’t think I’d be in the league to even score 1 point,” Clark said, “so the fact that we’re here is pretty special.”
Clark, the reigning WNBA Sixth Player of the Year, began the season starting due to injuries before moving back to coming off the bench.
The three-time NCAA Division I leading scorer (at Belmont 200 and at Middle Tennessee State in 2009 and 2010), was drafted No. 17 overall by San Antonio, but didn’t stick in the league until 2012 with Seattle. Once established with the Storm, Clark developed into one of the league’s most versatile defenders, willing and able to guard any of the five positions.
She won WNBA championships with Seattle in 2018 and 2020 and was voted to the league’s All-Defensive team in 2020.
The Class 3A MVP of Mt. Juliet High’s 2005 TSSAA state championship tournament run (37-1), she spent two years with the Washington Mystics before signing as a free agent with the Aces prior to the 2023 season.
