Ric Flair is an icon in the wrestling business. His career spans across five decades, having commenced in 1972 and culminated in 2022, when the WWE Hall of Famer was 73.
In the wrestling industry, The Nature Boy has worked for WWE, WCW, TNA, and AEW. Aside from being an exceptional professional wrestler, Flair has used his unbridled charm to branch out into other business ventures, including a virtual restaurant and a cannabis line partnered with boxing legend Mike Tyson.
While Flair has appeared on the silver screen himself, debuting in “Magic Mike XXL,” the sequel to the 2012 film, an actor wants to flip the script and play the part of the wrestling legend.
Ben Affleck Wants To Portray WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair
Hollywood star Ben Affleck has garnered praise for his most recent work, “The Accountant 2,” which premiered in March 2025. The recipient of two Oscars, Affleck’s most recent work as a real-life figure was Phil Knight in the 2023 film “Air,” which he also directed. Now, the actor expressed a desire to portray Flair during a recent interview.
In February 2024, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his production house, “Seven Bucks Production,” were working on a biopic of Flair. However, no further information or development has been disclosed since then. There has been speculation as to who should portray “The Nature Boy” on the silver screen.
Affleck said on “This Past Weekend with Theo Von” that he would love to don the role of the wrestling legend. “I wish I was Ric Flair, that would be spectacular; I’d love to play [him],” he said.
Ric Flair’s late career period received flak as he continued to wrestle despite a perfect retirement match at WrestleMania 24 in 2008, where Shawn Michaels defeated him at the event. The night before, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Flair subsequently signed with TNA.
His final match was at the “Ric Flair’s Last Match” independent pay-per-view event on July 31, 2022, which drew 6,800 fans for a live gate of $448,502. It became the second-highest-grossing North American independent professional wrestling event in modern history behind “All In.”
John Cena Broke His and Flair’s Record in Professional Wrestling
At WrestleMania 41, John Cena became a 17-time World Champion, surpassing the previous record that was previously tied between him and The Nature Boy. While Flair’s title wins were from when he wrestled for other promotions as well, Cena’s entire championship accomplishments were in WWE.
Johnson called Cena the “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time) after he achieved this feat on The Grandest Stage of Them All, defeating Cody Rhodes.
