In a significant move aimed at clarifying leadership and advancing the team’s performance trajectory, Andy Cowell has been appointed CEO and Team Principal of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, effective immediately. This transition aligns with a broader strategic shift towards a flatter organisational structure designed to enhance collaboration and streamline decision-making.
To maximize race car performance, the team’s Aerodynamics, Engineering, and Performance Departments have been restructured into two distinct entities: a dedicated trackside team and an AMR Technology Campus-based team. Both will report directly to Andy Cowell, ensuring unified leadership and focus across all operational facets.
Trackside Leadership
Mike Krack has been named Chief Trackside Officer, continuing his vital role in extracting peak performance from the car during race weekends. Having joined the team in 2022 as Team Principal, Mike’s expertise and experience will remain central to the team’s competitive edge on the circuit. His leadership will be pivotal in maintaining and enhancing the team’s trackside excellence.
AMR Technology Campus Leadership
Enrico Cardile will lead the AMR Technology Campus-based team in his new role as chief technical officer. This dedicated group will focus exclusively on the intricate challenges of designing and building next-generation race cars. Enrico’s responsibilities will encompass overseeing vehicles’ architecture, innovation, and development, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of Formula 1 engineering ingenuity.
Broader Racing Expansion
Tom McCullough will continue leading the organization and contributing his extensive experience to the team’s expansion into a broader range of racing categories. Over his 11-year tenure, Tom has been instrumental in trackside performance, including contributing to the team’s nine podium finishes in Aston Martin Aramco colours. His ongoing role underscores the team’s commitment to leveraging seasoned expertise for sustained success.
Andy Cowell’s Vision
Andy Cowell, CEO and Team Principal shared his insights on the changes:
“I have spent the last three months understanding and assessing our performance, and I’ve been incredibly impressed by this team’s dedication, commitment, and hard work. With the completion of the AMR Technology Campus and our transition in 2026 to a full works team, alongside our strategic partners Honda and Aramco, we are on a journey to becoming a Championship-winning team. These organisational changes are a natural evolution of the multi-year plans we have scheduled to make, and I’m incredibly excited about the future.”
