Reese ended the game with 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Cardoso had 10 points and 11 rebounds. Together, they contributed 24 rebounds out of the Sky’s total of 43. Cardoso reiterated the warning she had given the league when both she and Reese were drafted by the Sky.
“When I got drafted I said, ‘Nobody’s going to get rebounds over us when me and Angel are together,'” Cardoso said post-game.
Reese secured her double-double in the final seconds of the game, extending her streak of 14 consecutive double-doubles. As time was running out in the Sky’s 78-69 win against the Dream, Chennedy Carter initially intended to dribble out the clock. However, spurred on by the crowd’s energy, she passed the ball to Marina Mabrey, who then assisted Reese in earning her double-double.
Carter later joked about the help she received from the crowd and the bench to get the ball to Reese, expressing her excitement for her teammate’s accomplishment.
