Angel Reese has made her mark in the history books of the WNBA.
The rookie forward achieved her 13th consecutive double-double on Sunday, scoring 17 points and grabbing 14 rebounds as the Chicago Sky fell to the Seattle Storm, 84–71. This was the second meeting between the two teams in three days.
In the first half, Reese came close to a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds. She also recorded four steals during the game.
Reese secured her 10th rebound with 7:49 left in the third quarter and reached double-digit points after tipping in a missed layup by Kamilla Cardoso at the 6:29 mark.

Reese surpassed Candace Parker’s previous record of 12 consecutive double-doubles across the 2009 and 2010 seasons. She tied Parker in the 88–84 win over the Storm on Friday with a career-best 27 points and 10 rebounds.
Last week, Reese broke Parker’s single-season streak record with her 10th consecutive double-double. She achieved this milestone as a 22-year-old rookie in just 20 games, while Parker was 29 and in her eighth season when she started her streak.
“I try to take some things from her game and add them to mine,” Reese said after the game. “Just being able to be named with an amazing player like that is just always going to be special to me.”
Reese set the rookie record with seven consecutive double-doubles when she scored 16 points with 18 rebounds on June 20 against the Dallas Wings, breaking the previous record set by Tina Charles (2010) and Cindy Brown (1998).
“It’s the level of confidence to do way more than what people think she can,” Sky coach Teresa Witherspoon said after the game. “She’s able to trust herself, trust her training, shoot the ball when she’s open and believing and trusting that she can make those shots… She’s gotten really, really good at finishing around the rim, getting her offensive rebounds and putbacks or just simply getting position in our offensive sets and finishing with power.”
Has Reese’s record streak helped her in the WNBA Rookie of the Year competition? Teammate Chennedy Carter stated after Friday’s game that she deserves the award. Reese led the league in rebounds, averaging 11.7 per game.
Carter contributed 21 points for the Sky, who now stand at 8–12 after the loss. Marina Mabrey added 12 points with four rebounds and six assists, while Cardoso grabbed eight rebounds.
Despite a slow start, shooting 29% in the first half (21% in the first quarter), the Storm improved to 42% overall for the game and now hold a 14–7 record for the season.
Nneka Ogwumike led Seattle with 24 points and achieved a double-double with 13 rebounds. Jewell Loyd added 20 points and four assists, while Skylar Diggins-Smith provided a game-high eight assists along with 15 points.
Both teams will play their next games on Wednesday. The Sky will host the Atlanta Dream at 12 p.m. ET, while Seattle will face the Las Vegas Aces at 3 p.m. ET.
