Angel Reese Had One Word After WNBA Icon’s Career Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Angel Reese turned in another noteworthy performance for the Chicago Sky on Tuesday night. The All-Star forward registered another double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, to go along with three assists, two steals and a three-pointer.

Unfortunately for the Sky, not even Reese’s strong play was enough to help them avoid an absolute blowout at the hands of the defending champions, the New York Liberty. Chicago proved no match to Sabrina Ionescu and Co., who defended Barclays Center valiantly, resulting in a lopsided 85-66 win for New York.
Reese, though, was able to make history in the game by becoming the fastest player to reach 30 career double-doubles. She achieved this historic milestone in 42 games, and the 23-year-old flexed her new record by sharing the WNBA’s announcement post via her Instagram stories.
Reese then reserved one of her next Instagram posts for WNBA icon Allie Quigley, who officially announced her retirement on Tuesday in a heartfelt essay in The Player’s Tribune.
Reese shared the post from The Player’s Tribune, which showed some of the most compelling quotes from Quigley’s retirement announcement.
Reese commented on the post as well, using just one word.

“LEGEND!” she wrote, tagging Quigley.
Quigley played the last 10 seasons of her career with the Sky before deciding to put it on hold in 2023. The three-time All-Star is married to Chicago guard Courtney Vandersloot, and the reason behind Quigley’s decision to pause her career was to focus on motherhood.

On Tuesday, Quigley finally came to a decision to retire from the WNBA officially, two months after the arrival of their first child, Jana Christine.
Quigley is a one-time WNBA champion who won the Sixth Woman of the Year award twice in her career. She also held the Sky’s all-time scoring record with 3,273 points to her name. However, on May 30, Vandersloot surpassed Quigley for the franchise’s scoring crown, thereby having her wife settle for second place.
