Angel Reese dreams of being on the same WNBA team as Caitlin Clark one day.
In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Reese discussed her rivalry with Clark, which has been ongoing since their childhood. Reese emphasized the importance of trash talk in women’s sports and expressed her desire for it to become a normal part of the game. She also expressed her hope of being teammates with Clark in the future.
“Caitlin and I have been competing against each other since we were young,” Reese shared. “It’s a full circle moment for how trash-talking is perceived in women’s sports. It’s accepted in men’s sports, so we want to make it a common practice in women’s sports too. We’re both intense competitors, and we’ve attracted a lot of fans to the league. I believe we will continue to do so, and hopefully, we can play together one day.”
The tension between Reese and Clark escalated during the 2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament final when Reese playfully taunted Clark by imitating John Cena’s signature move and pointing to her championship aspirations. This moment caught the attention of fans and went viral, propelling both athletes into the limelight.
While Reese faced backlash for her actions, Clark took them in stride during media interviews. Interestingly, both players were on the same team during this year’s WNBA All-Star game.
