Angel Reese is making history in her rookie season with the Chicago Sky this year.
With her 15th consecutive double-double on Thursday night, she joined NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal in a rare group. Reese has recorded 16 double-doubles in her first 22 games in the WNBA, surpassing O’Neal’s record of 19 double-doubles in the first 22 games of his career in the NBA or WNBA.

Reese continues to extend her WNBA record double-double streak to 15 games. She had 10 points and 10 rebounds against the Liberty on Thursday, surpassing former Sky player Candace Parker’s record of nine games. This outstanding performance earned Reese her first All-Star selection alongside fellow rookie Caitlin Clark.
In an interesting turn of events, O’Neal praised Reese on a podcast in June for her on-court contributions, attributing them to the WNBA’s increased engagement and success.
“Don’t say, ‘Oh, we’re getting new sponsorship because of Caitlin [Clark],’ “O’Neal mentioned on his podcast, “The Big Podcast.” “No, what about Angel [Reese]? What about [Kamilla] Cardoso? What about, my favorite, Kelsey Plum? Cameron Brink.”
