Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark teamed up for the first time in their WNBA careers, helping Team USA secure a perfect 5-0 record at the 2026 FIBA World Cup qualifying tournament and win Group A. Over five games, Reese averaged 6.8 points and 8.0 rebounds, the second-most in the group, while Clark averaged 11.6 points and 6.4 assists, leading the group.
Both Reese and Clark have emerged as arguably the two most popular players in the WNBA since being drafted in 2024. The Chicago Sky forward has earned two All-Star nods and owns career averages of 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds per game, while also breaking the record for most consecutive double-doubles. Clark, meanwhile, has been dominant with the Indiana Fever, setting the single-season assists record as a rookie while earning All-WNBA First Team honors.

While both Reese and Clark were superstars during their time with LSU and Iowa, respectively, their popularity has only increased since joining the WNBA. And even though Clark may be considered the face of the WNBA, helping secure numerous viewership and attendance records, it’s Reese who holds the lead in Instagram followers.
As of Thursday, Reese has the most Instagram followers among all WNBA players with 5.2 million, while Clark ranks second with 3.6 million, giving Reese a 1.6 million follower advantage over her rival. The top 10 most-followed WNBA players are as follows (via Boardroom):

“👑 Queen Reese is a big dawg,” one fan said.
“Couldn’t we agree that Reese is an Instagram influencer and Clark fans are basketball fans,” claimed another.
“Let’s see how many Clarkies are upset about this 😂😂,” added a third.
“Ofc big dawg leading the pack,” wrote a fourth.
“1 of 1,” posted a fifth.
“As we have concluded with proof, Instagram followers does not equal viewership!” added a sixth.
