Angel Reese has started doing some recruiting for the Chicago Sky. Ahead of Unrivaled’s opening night on Friday, the young WNBA star keeps making moves on and off the court. After she was spotted working out with Rose BC teammate Kahleah Copper, several fans showed love to the forward.
She reacted to a video shared by the team’s X/Twitter fan account, showing love to Copper, a Phoenix Mercury guard/forward.
Angel Reese showed her happiness about all the privileges that being a member of the new league gets her, saying she was in love with all the things she could do before leaving the league’s headquarters.
“We get to workout, use the weight room, create new bonds/friendships, get treatment, get massages, use the sauna, getting 2 meals a day, and then a facial before I leave for the day??? yeah i love it here😭💓,” she tweeted.
More than that, she told fans that she was working on getting new additions to the Chicago Sky.
“oh & trust me, a lot of these things will be in chicago this year as well! @FREE AGENTS,” Reese added.
Kahleah Copper signed a two-year, $490,118 contract with the Chicago Sky in 2022. She was traded to the Phoenix Mercury in February 2024 in the move that sent Michaela Onyenwere, Brianna Turner, the 2023 No. 3 pick (Kamilla Cardoso), a 2025 second-round pick from Chicago, a 2026 first-round pick and the right to swap 2026 second round.
Her exit from the Sky came after she felt something was missing and she needed to be in a professional environment after playing seven of her nine WNBA seasons in Chicago.
During her time at Wintrust Arena, Copper became a three-time All-Star and helped the team win the 2021 WNBA Finals, taking home the Finals MVP award.
Angel Reese could become teammates with former Sky’s lottery pick
While Angel Reese is recruiting for the Chicago Sky, the team’s front office appears to be looking in different places to find reinforcements for Tyler Marsh’s first season as the team’s coach.
After leaving the Sky for the New York Liberty in 2023, Courtney Vandersloot could be back in Windy City this offseason. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca could be interested in adding Vandersloot in free agency.
The Sky doesn’t seem to be the best franchise for top-level talents, as Gabby Williams refused to join them after the Olympic break and Kahleah Copper might not be fond of returning to a rebuilding team.
