Even though “Ted Lasso” concluded last year, fans still cherish Jason Sudeikis’ memorable character, and Sudekis himself is no exception. Over the weekend, the actor showed up at the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game to support Team WNBA as they played against Team USA, embodying the spirit of the beloved title character from the show.
In a video clip, Sudeikis can be heard encouraging the players, saying, “You’re doing great, you’re doing great.”
He further motivates the players by indicating that their opponents will have to run sprints based on their performance.

While this moment was highlighted on the WNBA’s social media, not all Team WNBA players seemed amused. An image that went viral showed Angel Reese looking unenthusiastic during Sudeikis’ speech.

Reese likely remembered Sudeikis mimicking her hand gesture in the showdown between Iowa Hawkeyes and LSU Lady Tigers during last year’s women’s NCAA Women’s Championship Final.

Sudeikis likely had good intentions with his gesture, but Reese didn’t seem impressed. While most team members found humor in Sudeikis’ speech, Reese appeared disinterested.

Despite the varied reactions to the motivational speech, Team WNBA emerged victorious during All-Star Weekend, defeating Team USA with a score of 117-109.
Sudeikis’ charismatic persona is hard to resist, except for All-Star Barbie. It could be a perfect storyline for “Ted Lasso.” Maybe next time, bring some delicious biscuits along.
