Angel Reese is heading into her second WNBA season, but the 2025 version of the Chicago Sky will look a lot different than the team Reese broke into the league with last year.

Gone is head coach Teresa Weatherspoon and in is rising star Tyler Marsh, and the team also added two-time All-Star guard Ariel Atkins and guard Rebecca Allen via trade, signed point guard Courtney Vandersloot and guard Kia Nurse, and sent guard Dana Evans to the Las Vegas Aces for the No. 16 and 22 overall picks in the 2025 draft.

Many expect Reese to take a big step forward in her development in Year 2 coming off the heels of a successful run in the upstart Unrivaled basketball league. Reese won the inaugural league championship with Rose BC, she was named Defensive Player of the Year, and she was a second-team All-Unrivaled.

But her personal success apparently isn’t all she wants bringing with her from Unrivaled to the WNBA.

Reese took to social media recently and seemingly jokingly recruited former Sky player and 2021 WNBA Finals MVP Kahleah Copper to come back to Chicago and play with her. Reese and Cooper were Unrivaled teammates on Rose BC.

“Can’t wait to talk [expletive] to my grandma until she come back home 🙃 @kahleahcopper,” Reese tweeted in response to comments Copper made about her on a recent appearance on DraftKings’ “Good Follow” show, in which she stated “that’s really grandbaby” when asked about Reese.

Copper, now a member of the Phoenix Mercury, spent seven of her first eight WNBA seasons with the Sky.

She was traded to the Mercury back in February 2024 along with the rights to Morgan Bertsch in exchange for Michaela Onyenwere, Brianna Turner, the No. 3 overall pick in 2024, a 2025 second-round pick, a 2026 first-round pick, and the right to swap 2026 second-round picks.

With that No. 3 pick, the Sky drafted center Kamilla Cardoso, who averaged 9.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game as a rookie, and who many believe will be a key part of the Sky offense in 2025.
