On Wednesday, the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese commented on her upcoming “team-up” with noted WNBA rival, Caitlin Clark.

Reese, 22, appeared on ESPN to discuss the WNBA All-Star Game, scheduled for July 20 at Footprint Center in Phoenix.

All eyes have been on Reese and Clark’s All-Star team-up after starring all season as the two most prominent stars and rivals in the WNBA.

Their on-court rivalry, ongoing since their days playing college basketball, has added fireworks to the booming WNBA season led by the Caitlin Clark Effect.

Fans following WNBA storylines this year wonder if Reese and Clark can mesh as teammates on the court.

Angel Reese appears thrilled to partner up with Clark, 22.

“It’s going to be really cool. I mean, I know so many fans are going to come out to watch both of us, but I know a lot of people are just going to be able to come to Phoenix.”

The rivals made history together as the first pair of WNBA rookies to be selected to the All-Star Game.

“I’m sure it’s already sold out,” she added, “so being able to be in that environment, we’re going to be playing together for a while. So this is not going to be the first time. I know we’ll be All-Stars again. I know hopefully in 2028 we’ll be Olympians together too.”

The All-Star event will pit the 12-player WNBA All-Stars team against the women’s national Team USA roster, which will compete at the upcoming Paris Olympic Games.

Clark and Reese will join forces amid an ongoing debate about which rookie is more deserving of the Rookie of the Year award.

The Indiana Fever selected Caitlin Clark with the first overall pick in April, and the Iowa sensation has lived up to the hype, selling out arenas and recording WNBA records.

Becoming the first WNBA rookie to record a triple-double (halfway through the season), Clark appears to be the runaway pick for ROTY.

As for Angel Reese, her WNBA-record 13 straight double-doubles shot up her case for Rookie of the Year among her fans. Her streak has also stirred a sentiment among critics that Reese is the preferred pick for ROTY behind closed doors.

As for the All-Star Game, Clark’s skill set, leading all rookies in scoring and assists, should blend well with Reese. Reese will also have her shot of outshining her teammate after catching recent criticism for her double-double streak.

Some may believe the pressure is too great on Reese and Clark to be rivals. The players’ production suggests Clark and Reese play well independent of the outside noise, and as sports fans, we’re just glad to watch the WNBA get its own Magic versus Bird-style rivalry.
