Angel Reese, a native of the Baltimore area, saw her WNBA-record double-double streak come to an end at 15 games in the Chicago Sky’s 81-67 defeat against the New York Liberty.
Reese, a strong contender for WNBA Rookie of the Year, contributed eight points and grabbed 16 rebounds for the Sky.
The Liberty put intense defensive pressure on Reese with four defenders in the closing seconds of the game.
Reese hails from Randallstown and honed her basketball skills at Baltimore’s St. Frances Academy during her high school years. She began her college journey at Maryland before transferring to LSU, where she clinched a national championship and secured All-American accolades.
Sabrina Ionescu led the scoring for New York with 28 points.
Jonquel Jones contributed 14 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists for New York (20-4), which is on a three-game winning streak, including a 91-76 triumph over the Sky in the previous encounter.
New York capitalized on five turnovers, converting them into 11 points, while the Sky managed to score 14 points off 14 New York turnovers.
