Anthony Davis sustained a relatively minor injury during the Lakers’ defeat to the Pistons on Monday night, but he has since revealed that it is a persistent issue he has been managing.
During the late stages of the game, he re-injured his ankle/foot multiple times and was visibly struggling on the court before eventually falling in pain.

Despite the injury, he still managed to contribute 37 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.
Davis appeared visibly frustrated after the loss, and it was unclear whether it was due to the defeat to the Pistons or the looming possibility of being sidelined due to his ankle injury, or perhaps both.
During the post-game press conference, a reporter asked LeBron about the potential impact of Davis being out due to injury, to which Davis himself can be heard in the background stating, “I’m not out.”
In his own postgame interview, Davis mentioned that the injury has been bothering him since the summer and he landed directly on the area that has been causing him pain.
Some clarity – apparently it’s a foot issue and not an ankle issue. AD would later say that “he’s not out” when I tried to ask LeBron a question about what a potential AD absence would mean. https://t.co/hk6pf19dZ5

Head coach JJ Redick mentioned that he believes Davis was playing through “an ankle issue” during the game.
Hopefully, the injury won’t sideline Davis for an extended period, as he has been in impressive form at the start of the season.
He is currently averaging 31.8 points, 12 rebounds, and 2.8 assists on 57.3 percent shooting from the field in the first five games of the 2024-25 NBA season.
