Caitlin Clark has received numerous Athlete of the Year awards for her outstanding performance in 2024. However, she was also nominated for a different, more controversial award by NFL legend Antonio Brown, known for his controversial social media posts, including offensive remarks and awards like “Cracker of the Day.”
Brown nominated Clark for the “Cracker Moment of the Year” award along with Dave Portnoy, Hailey Welch, and Joe Biden. These sarcastic titles are assigned by Brown to individuals in a mocking manner, gaining attention through social media posts, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), where he highlights controversial behavior or statements by public figures.
Antonio Brown posted explicit tweets about Clark’s pubic hair in April, leading to thousands of likes. He later revealed that he had been blocked by the WNBA star. In May, Brown issued an apology on Jason Whitlock’s show but ended with another crude remark about pubic hair.
Caitlin Clark has faced criticism throughout her career, but she has learned to ignore negativity. She attributes much of the criticism to those who are not longtime fans of the WNBA and emphasizes that she treats everyone with respect and kindness despite the controversies surrounding her.
In her debut year in the WNBA, Clark had a stellar performance, earning numerous accolades and contributing to the league’s success. She was named TIME Athlete of the Year and AP Female Athlete of the Year during the offseason.
