Telkom Netball League giants Gauteng Jaguars and the Free State Crinums will battle it out in the eagerly awaited 2024 season final on Wednesday. The intense round of Tuesday knockout matches kept spectators on the edge of their seats at Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg on Monday, 17 June 2024.
The Diamonds showcased exceptional growth throughout the tournament, culminating in a well-deserved victory over the Kingdom Queens. Their display of maturity and skill surpassed expectations, resulting in a final score of 53-46 in favor of the Diamonds.
The Eastern Cape Comets and the Sunbirds engaged in a fiercely competitive B Division match that extended into extra time. The Comets’ relentless defense and the Sunbirds’ determination led to a hard-fought victory for the Comets.
The Kingdom Stars secured their spot in the Division B final after a strategic game against the Tornados. They will face off against the Comets in the final match of Tuesday, June 18th. The winner of the Division final will compete in the relegation/promotion game against the Baobabs, the last team in the A-section.
In the A Division semi-final, the defending champions, the Jaguars, secured their spot in the final after facing off against the Western Cape Stings. The Jaguars’ hunger for victory prevailed, leading them to the final match. Rozanne Matthyse’s strategic changes and Kamo Maseko’s standout performance earned the Jaguars a place in their 11th consecutive TNL final.
The highly anticipated second Division A semi-final saw the Crinums emerge as comfortable winners, securing a spot in the 2024 finals. Karla Pretorius led the Crinums to victory with an exceptional performance, earning Zandri Fourie the title of Player of the Match.
