Kamiel Bonneu surprised WorldTour teams by winning stage 3 at the Arctic Race of Norway. This victory, his first since 2022, was also a milestone for his Flanders Baloise team, marking their first Pro-level win since the Tour of Britain two years ago.
The 25-year-old Belgian seized an opportunity when Davide De Pretto (Jayco AlUla) made a move with 5.6km left. Bonneu dropped him and rode solo to the finish line inside the final kilometer in Jakobsbakken.
Bonneu’s win was particularly emotional as he revealed in his post-race interview that his grandfather had passed away the day before, prompting him to point to the sky as he crossed the line.Â
Magnus Cort (Uno-X Mobility) put up a strong chase to secure second place on the stage. Despite this, the bonus seconds gained by Cort allowed him to move into the race lead by one second ahead of Bonneu and seven seconds ahead of Kevin Vermaerke (DSM-Firmenich PostNL), who finished third on the stage.
