Aryna Sabalenka would love to have kids now, but here’s her realistic pregnancy plan

Aryna Sabalenka is at the peak of her career, and in a recent interview with Alexander Sokolovsky, the Grand Slam champion opened up about when she hopes to have a baby and how her plans for pregnancy have evolved over the years.

The 27-year-old WTA player, who claimed her fourth major title at the 2025 US Open, is in a long-term relationship with entrepreneur Georgios Frangulis and would love to become a mother. For now, her focus remains firmly on building her tennis legacy.

In the interview, she reflected on how her perspective on pregnancy has evolved as she’s grown older and approached the age at which many women start thinking about motherhood.

“At 18 I thought by 25 I’d win everything I wanted, have a baby, come back and keep winning,” said Sabalenka, whose first Grand Slam title came close to three years ago, at the 2023 Australian Open. “At 25, I thought maybe 27 or 28? Now I’m 27 and I realized I want to get the most out of my career.”

Sabalenka loves children and admits she would gladly have a baby now, but she’s also realistic, acknowledging that a pregnancy at this stage would inevitably impact the trajectory of her career. At this point, Sabalenka believes she’ll be ready for motherhood in about five years:

“Probably in about five years I’d like to try for a family and maybe come back, depends on what stage of life I’m in. It’s tough, because if I could, I’d do it now. I love kids and they seem to love me. And I’d really want that. But right now my priority is my career and see how far I can go.”

Sabalenka has been with her current boyfriend for over a year and a half. At the 2025 US Open, there was a funny situation when a man in the stands got down on one knee to propose to his partner, briefly interrupting Sabalenka’s encounter with Leylah Fernandez. In her post-match press conference, Sabalenka commented on the unusual scene, wishing the couple a happy marriage and admitting she glanced over at her boyfriend at the moment, jokingly adding: “No pressure.”
