The outcome of Week 2 of Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball highlights the impact of the league’s revised captain selection process, as going by the weekly Leaderboard, rather than the season-long Leaderboard, resulted in a different foursome claiming the captaincies for Week 3.
While Odyssey Sims and Maddy Siegrist would have earned the top two captain positions regardless of method, the prioritization of weekly points allowed Isabelle Harrison and Maya Caldwell to take the last two slots. On the season-long Leaderboard, Ty Harris and Crystal Bradford, both of whom were Week 2 captains, are in third and fourth place, meaning they would have remained as captains under the former selection process.
All of four Week 3 captains played for Team Siegrist in Week 2, a testament to the squad’s absolute dominance of the AU action. Team Siegrist went undefeated, netting wins by 18 points, 21 points and 10 points. Now, we’ll see if Siegrist herself again has drafted a superior squad, or if her now-former teammates will compile groups capable of going undefeated for the week.
Week 3 tips off on Wednesday, Feb. 19 when Team Harrison meets Team Siegrist (6 p.m. ET) and Team Sims faces Team Caldwell (8:30 p.m. ET). Both games will be available through the WNBA App or FanDuel Sports Network.
Here are more details on the damage the four captains—Sims (Gold), Siegrist (Orange), Harrison (Blue) and Caldwell (Purple)—did in Week 2, followed by a look at what might happen in Week 3:
Week 2 was an AU Odyssey
With 48 games and more than 1,700 minutes of AU experience across the league’s four seasons, it should be no surprise that Odyssey Sims showed out in Week 2 of the 2025 season, accumulating 2503 points to earn the Gold captaincy for Week 3. She also sits at the head of the season-long AU Leaderboard with 3570 points.
The AU vet popped off for a career-high 41 points in the final game of Week 2, helping Team Siegrist secure the 3-0 week with a win over Team Bradford. That undoubted MVP 1 outburst followed a 30-point effort in Team Siegrist’s win over Team Nurse, which also earned her MVP 1 honors, on Wednesday and 20 points in the victory over Team Harris on Friday, when she was named MVP 2. For the week, Sims shot almost 57 percent from the field, helping her net a league-leading 600 points from made 2-pointers. Her 13 free throws in the finale likewise allowed her to earn a league-topping 190 points from the stripe. Yet, she didn’t just get buckets; Sims also was the week’s most prolific distributor, tallying 250 points from assists.
The captain of Team Siegrist also had another excellent week, with Maddy Siegrist’s 2027 points earning her the Orange captaincy for the second-straight week. On Saturday, she helped her squad maintain their undefeated mark, supporting Sims with 25 points of her own to claim MVP 2.
Her best performance—and possibly the best single-game performance in AU history—came in Friday’s domination of Team Harris. Siegrist had a 35-point and 12-rebound double-double, which powered her to a single-game record 871 points. She, of course, also took MVP 1. Named MVP 3 in the third game, Siegrist finished with 180 MVP points for the week to go along with her team’s 540 win points, as Team Siegrist won 10 of their 12 quarters on the way to winning all three games.
As further indication of Team Siegrist’s Week 2 dominance, the final two captains for Week 3 also came from the undefeated squad, with Isabelle Harrison and her 1517 points just edging Maya Caldwell and her 1503 points for the Blue captaincy.
In contrast to their teammates, neither Harrison nor Caldwell posted any particularly loud stat lines; they simply provided consistent, across-the-board contributions for the week’s best team. In the win over Team Harris, Harrison was named MVP 3 for scoring an efficient 22 points, the best scoring performance of the 2025 season for the four-season AU vet. In her first AU season, Caldwell has flashed her passing chops, totaling 12 dimes for 120 assist points.
Who’s playing for who in Week 3
Captains Sims, Siegrist, Harrison and Caldwell drafted their Week 3 teams on Monday. Here’s how the squads stack up:
Team Sims (Gold): Odyssey Sims, Kierstan Bell, Elizabeth Williams, Evina Westbrook, Taj Cole, Lydia Rivers, Taylor Mikesell
Team Siegrist (Orange): Maddy Siegrist, Kia Nurse, Crystal Bradford, Jaylyn Sherrod, Asia Taylor, McKenzie Forbes, Shey Peddy, G’mrice Davis, Rebecca Harris
Team Harrison (Blue): Isabelle Harrison, Bria Hartley, Lexie Brown, Alissa Pili, Sequoia Holmes, Christyn Williams, Desi-Rae Young, Charisma Osborne, Jude Schimmel
Team Caldwell (Purple): Maya Caldwell, Ty Harris, Alysha Clark, Theresa Plaisance, Sydney Colson, Kiara Leslie, Dorie Harrison, Suriya McGuire, Angel Jackson
Shooting was a priority for the four captains, with the league’s best 3-point shooters coming off the draft board early. Kia Nurse, Siegrist’s first pick, leads AU with 510 points earned from made 3-pointers, while Ty Harris, Caldwell’s top pick, is second with 450 points from triples. Kierstan Bell, picked first by Sims, and Crystal Bradford, Siegrist’s second selection, are tied for third with 360 points from 3s. Bria Hartley, Harrison’s top pick, has tallied 330 points from made 3-pointers.
First-time captain Maya Caldwell went with the savvy strategy of targeting fan favorites, grabbing local gal Alysha Clark before uniting the “Syd + TP” tandem of Sydney Colson, who is second in the league with 280 points from assists, and Theresa Plaisance, who ranks second overall with 190 points from defensive rebounds.
