Northwest Conference Release
HILLSBORO, Ore. – Korin Baker was named Player of the Year, Natalie Lundberg Defensive Player of the Year and Michelle Ferenz Coach of the Year as the Northwest All-Conference Women’s Basketball Team was announced Tuesday by the league office.
Baker, Whitman’s all-time leading scorer, was named first team all-conference and Player of the Year for a incredible third straight season. Joining Baker on the first team is sharp shooter and 1,000-point scorer Carly Martin.
Ferenz was named coach of the year after leading the Blues to their fifth regular season title in six seasons, and third tournament title in four seasons. It was the seventh coach of the year recognition of her career.
Baker was stellar all season long for the Blues and established herself and one of the nations best. She led the conference in field goal percentage (.663), points per game (19.5) and rebounds per game (10.0).
Martin was a force to be reckoned with on the perimeter both offensively and defensively. She ranked second only to Baker in points per game (17.1) and second in three-point field goals per game.
Lundberg was, simply put, and handful for any offense, leading the league in both steals (45) and steals per game (2.8).
