Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield is primed to have his best NFL season yet. There’s a chance if he plays well enough that he could put into the MVP conversation.
An obstacle in his way, though, is that there are several other quarterbacks in front of him that have better odds for MVP despite not being as successful as Baker Mayfield. The top example is Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, who has a lot of talent but hasn’t accomplished much in the NFL and has two bad playoff losses in different ways.

Baker Mayfield continues to get overlooked in favor of players that have “potential” rather than accomplishments, and that’s why Herbert and the likes of Brock Purdy have better odds than Mayfield or a Jalen Hurts even though they’ve proved they’re can handle several types of situations that have come up in their careers.
