Manchester United are nearing the completion of transfers for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, as indicated by Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl.
Despite a disappointing loss in the Community Shield against Manchester City, United made progress off the pitch by advancing talks to sign both De Ligt and Mazraoui from Bayern.
De Ligt is set to join United for €45million plus €5m in add-ons, signing a five-year contract with the option for a further 12 months. Mazraoui, on the other hand, will cost €15m plus €5m in bonuses as a potential replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
With agreements in place with Bayern for both players, United is working swiftly to finalize their signings.
Bayern’s sporting director suggests that United fans will soon see both players in United shirts, as transfers are expected to be completed shortly.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Eberl “expects” the transfers to Old Trafford to be finalized soon, with a flight to Manchester and medicals scheduled for Monday.
De Ligt and Mazraoui, who excelled at Ajax under Ten Hag, bring technical proficiency and an understanding of the manager’s philosophy and style of play to United. They are capable of pushing the backline higher up the field.
