LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Las Vegas coach Becky Hammon reiterated her denial of former Aces player Dearica Hamby’s allegations that the team mistreated her and traded her because of her pregnancy.
Hamby, who was traded to Los Angeles in January 2023, had been with the organization from 2015-22, starting when the Aces were located in San Antonio. She was named the league’s Sixth Player of the Year in 2019 and 2020, and also won a bronze medal in 3X3 basketball at the Paris Olympics.
Despite going public with her claims last year, Hamby recently filed a lawsuit against the WNBA and her former team in federal court, alleging discrimination and retaliation.
After the Aces defeated Hamby and the Sparks 87-71, Hammon stated, “I’ve been part of either the WNBA or the NBA for 25 years now. I’ve never had an HR complaint. Not once. And I still haven’t, because Dearica didn’t file any. She didn’t file with the players’ union, she didn’t file with the WNBA. Those are the facts.”
