Ben Askren, former Bellator and ONE champion, suggests that Conor McGregor has not returned to the octagon because he is addicted to certain behaviors. Askren described McGregor as ‘an addict’ during an episode of the Funky and the Champ podcast.
According to Askren, McGregor’s lifestyle of constant partying has prevented him from being fully committed to training camps and ultimately getting ready to fight. Askren mentioned seeing videos of McGregor engaging in excessive partying and speculates that he may have issues with both drugs and alcohol.
While Askren did not witness McGregor using drugs firsthand, he expressed concern about McGregor’s behavior based on the videos he has seen. McGregor has been inactive since injuring his leg in a fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. A scheduled bout against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 was canceled due to a toe injury.
