Get to know Berri better:
How do you feel about joining the Elite Netball team as an ambassador?
Joining the Elite Netball team as an ambassador is incredibly exciting for me. Coaching is a passion of mine, and I have heard great things about Elite Netball Academy. Working with them to do what I love is amazing.
What are you most looking forward to doing as part of your role?
I am eager to share shooting drills that I have learned over the years. As a GA, I always look for fun ways to practice shooting at home. I am excited to share these drills with young netballers to help them improve.
Why do you enjoy working with young netballers?
Working with young netballers is inspiring for me. I was inspired by players when I was younger, and now I hope to do the same for the next generation. I want to share drills and lessons that will stay with them throughout their careers.
What has netball taught you?
Netball has taught me a lot on and off the court. It has made me more confident, taught me about the importance of nutrition, exercise, and sleep. Without netball, I wouldn’t be as mindful of my health and fitness habits.
Who inspired you to chase your netball dream?
My parents have been my biggest inspiration. They have supported me and sacrificed so much for my sporting endeavors. Their belief in me has been a driving force in my career.
Who do you look up to in netball?
There are many athletes and coaches I admire in netball. Lisa Alexander, Helen Housby, Liana Leota, and Gretel Bueta have achieved great success in their careers and inspire me with their play and coaching.
If you weren’t a netball player, what job would you be doing?
If I weren’t a netball player, I would be involved in another sport. My family always encouraged us to stay active, so I would likely be playing basketball or a similar sport.
Favourite netball memory to date?
My favorite netball memory is earning my first international cap in New Zealand and winning the game by one goal. Representing England has been a childhood dream come true.
Do you have Any pre-game superstitions?
I am quite superstitious, and one of my rituals is having a Red Bull before a big game. It’s a habit that has stuck with me after playing well once following a drink.
