Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of former Reading full-back Rachel Dugdale on a free transfer.
The Lancashire side announced news of the deal via a post on their official club X account this evening.
The 27-year-old defender joins Blackburn Rovers after leaving former club Reading following their resignation from the Barclays Women’s Championship earlier this summer. Dugdale spent one season with The Royals in which she made 22 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Dugdale is very experienced at Barclays Women’s Championship level with the player having spent most of her career playing in the second tier. After starting out in the top flight with Doncaster Rovers Belles, Dugdale went on to represent the South Yorkshire side in the old FAWSL2. The defender then played for Charlton Athletic and Coventry United in the Barclays Women’s Championship before moving to Reading.
In total, Dugdale has chalked up more than 70 appearances at Barclays Women’s Championship level. She will now be hoping to use her experience to help new club Blackburn Rovers enjoy another solid season.
Dugdale becomes Blackburn Rovers’ ninth signing of the summer transfer window. With Simon Parker’s side not in action this weekend, the club could still do further business before the start of the season.
