Boomer Esiason is stirring up excitement about a potential Davante Adams trade.
During his “Boomer & Gio” show on WFAN, the former Jets quarterback hinted at the possibility of the star Las Vegas Raiders receiver being traded in the coming weeks.
“I’m hearing rumors that this trade could happen in late August or early September,” Esiason mentioned. “The reasons for the timing are unclear at this point.”
Esiason, who recently ended a long career as an NFL analyst, speculated about a possible scenario where Adams may signal his wish to leave Vegas.
“Davante may not publicly state that he wants to leave the Raiders,” Esiason explained. “But in the ‘Receiver’ program, he expresses concerns about his safety, which might indicate his desire to move on from the team.”
“I don’t see him making a public statement about it, but he may communicate his intentions to his agent, similar to what happened in Green Bay,” Esiason added.
Although the Raiders’ record has been underwhelming during Adams’ tenure, he has consistently expressed his commitment to the team.
However, rumors of a potential trade have gained traction in recent days, with Aaron Rodgers hinting at a reunion with Adams and revelations on “Receiver” shedding light on Adams’ discontent with the team.
Despite requests to be closer to his family in California, Adams has delivered impressive performances despite changes in the quarterback position in Vegas.
In recent years, Adams has continued to be a top performer, maintaining impressive statistics despite challenges within the team.
As mentioned on the WFAN show, Adams’ potential trade would have a manageable financial impact on the team’s salary cap.
If a trade were to happen, the Jets appear to be a likely destination, looking to bolster their receiving corps with a superstar like Adams and provide Rodgers with a familiar face.
Other potential landing spots for Adams could include the Steelers, Cowboys, or Cardinals.
